New site theme
I've been looking for a more bright Drupal theme and I selected Enlight:
http://drupal.org/project/enlight
I modified it for a 960px width and added a few theme enhancements (content regions and an ending closure tag for Drupal themes so that the theme would be more compatible with Drupal modules such as FCKEditor.)
The Enlight theme doesn't have the link and category (taxonomy) icons of the old Barron theme which I was using for over a year but it does have a better placement of the main menu (Home, About, My blog) below the site name.
A few note worthy themes that I considered were:
The above themes are Drupal 6 only and I'm on Drupal 5. I've got no reason to be on Drupal 5 except I've got a lot of modules that have been used and an upgrade process isn't quite a walk in the park for sites that have had many modules activated. If I have a moodule version 1.2 and it has a version 1.8 and 2.3 and 3.2 as the latest, I have to upgrade from 1.2 to 1.8 and then from 1.8 to 2.3 and then onto 3.2 which can be quite tedious.
That's ok if every de-activated module was not deleted a modules as Drupal by default seem to doesn't display or mention modules that were previously deleted. If I install a version 3.2 of a module when I have tables from version 1.8 in the database, the tables are bound to be messed (I'm not sure what the technical name for that is since I hardly ever deal with databses) and the module would most likely be unusable. A manual delete of the module's database tables would most likely be in order so hence I'm in no hurry to jump to jump to Drupal 6.
I'm considering releasing the self customized version of the Enlight theme I'm using and I'll add a few more edits to the theme and possibly release it as a remixed Enlight theme.
I've also re-named the theme called Pixeled to Drixel to avoid a trademark infringement.
Here are a couple of themes whose GPL designs I've transferred to Drupal
Edit:
In addition to a new appearance (and layout when the menu placement is taken into considerationg,) I've also enabled Disqus comments for blog posts since it was getting difficult to manage comments through Drupal's default interface.
I'll be removing the book review section as I'm more of a reader than a book reviewer. Do check out the Drupal theming 6 book by Ric Shreves. It has a lot of information on building Drupal themes.
Here's a preview of the book courtesy of Packt Publishing:

The quotes below are from Don Norman’s article: Design Thinking: A Useful myth …more important, and more legitimate reason to embrace the term “design thinking.” It positions design in a unique way, forcing companies to view design differently than before. The emphasis on “thinking” makes the point that design is more than a pretty face: [...]
