Task analysis is the analysis of how a task is accomplished.
A task analysis includes descriptions of:
- manual and mental activities
- task and element durations
- task frequency
- task allocation
- task complexity environmental conditions
- necessary clothing and equipment
- other unique factors involved in or required for one or more people to perform a given task.

According to chapter 20 in Håkon Wium Lie and Bert Bos’ book Cascading Style Sheets, designing for the web Tim Berners-Lee’s original NeXT browser had a simple style sheet language.
