The following Book involves setting up a VPS from windows for newbies to unmanaged servers.
Your OS: Windows
Server OS: Ubuntu 7.10
SSH CLient: Putty
VPS Provider: Slicehost or Linode
I have written the books as a reference for myself and site visitors on how to set up a self managed VPS to run Drupal, Wordpress and/or Wordpress Multi User
The book does not contain information on how to install and configure Drupal, Wordpress and/or Wordpress Multi-User as configuring those systems have much more configuration options which are too extensive to be addressed.
At most I may write a book how to install the above content management systems using CPanel on a shared host.
